Rear View Mirror Glass Gasket
« on: August 04, 2020, 00:46:03 »
Hello all, I'm working on a 1963 rear view mirror. I had it re-chromed.
Now I need the gasket that goes around the actual  mirror.
I can't seem to find a source.  I may use almond colored window sealer from a tube.
Thank you

It is available at the dealers.

For goose neck, up to ident. no.: 043 002979, it is A 000 811 01 65 for about $12.
Later one, A 108 811 00 65 for about $25.

Quality is important, I would buy from the dealers.

For the central rear view mirror, the one inside, there is no gasket as a separate part, the mirror came as a whole.

There is no such part on the parts list. Inside mirror comes as one piece as a spare part.

I know this thread is long dead but just in case someone found another option. I am looking for the the Gasket for the Inside Rear View Mirror.  Seems crazy that would have have to purchase a whole new mirror just for that one Gasket?  I will keep searching.

I took my mirror apart to have the glass re-silvered, and i didn't take much notice of the gasket, if you measure it, can you not buy a length from a supplier of silicon, rubber or plastic profiles?

I purchased almond caulk for mine.
I have not actually finished the project.
my plan is to use the caulk as the gasket.

I use good old fashioned glazing putty.
