things i learned installing the 123 disti
« on: May 20, 2024, 19:24:05 »
hi
some things i encountered when installing the 123 disti

1.   Remove the 123 “o” ring when installing their clamp, not to damage the o ring
2.   The 123 clamp is long and the clamp end just touches the block and can prevent you from installing the hold down bolt.(picture)   I had to install the disti with the clamp installed on it and tightened the clamp screw just a little. In the end I just re used the old clamp upside down.
3.   The disti only goes in one way, so unless you feel it lock in, rotate the rotor 180 and it should securely go in. (yes you may have to re do the spark plug wires)
4.   You need to supply your own terminals. I had a bunch of terminals but only one that fit. uggh
5.   If you are old school pre coil the 123 wires before installing the 123 (picture)
6.   When rotating disti hold the rotor cap clamps up. If left down they can hit the battery or head and prevent you from rotating the disti.
7.   The 123 clamp is snug so no need to tighten the screw adjuster too much when adjusting the timing  (if you use their clamp)

if you do not encounter any issues the entire installation process should take about 40 minutes.
