« on: July 27, 2005, 18:43:25 »
Guys
I am still new to the group and still learning/understanding the car I bought-230SL 1965 (Euro). Sorry for asking this silly question but can someone explain to me what is a VIN? Where I come from, we only talk about Engine and chassis No .

Walter,
Thanks again for your kind offer.

Vehicle Identification Number. In your case, it's 1130421XXXXXXX.

Go to:

http://silverstarrestorations.com/113SL.htm

Halfway down the page, there's a photo of the right front frame rail of a red SL. The VIN is stamped into the body there.

There should also be a plate either on either the firewall, on the driver-side door jamb, or possibly on the driver-side A-post. Exactly where it is depends on which model you have, its year, and its country of origin.

It's there somewhere.
