Thanks Will Samples for the referral.

If you buy the ignition key (regular and valet) and head form Mercedes today - is it considered non-original?

What is the code/type for the Mercedes original key blank for the W113 ? I have been looking for an original black plastic head key in the UK but don't know what key series it is (eg someone has a YMOS - MERCEDES - ME-HF.P YM12 blank with the plastic head - would this work ?)

If you are talking about the "one key car" time, there was one part number and one key profile, MB16, for W113 (see attachment). Code I have on datacard is F. Could be they may have a different code.

Balsaeed has a different code, but the arrangement in his car looks to be like ignition key is the symetric one with profile MB16, but he has still keys for other parts of the car. I did not know such sets existed.

Blanks for valet and master key as well as the heads are available at dealers.

Thank you Pawel. I checked on my data card and the car came with 1 key code for ignition, door, glovebox, gas cap and trunk which was HF XXXX

My spare key has the profile MB16, and has a code "ME-HF" on a blank from JMA, but does not have the Black head.

Then they could have code F or HF apparently. The PN for the head is A000 766 45 06, available at dealers as it was used in many MB models until the 90-ies, I believe. This head is for secondary key. The PN for primary key (A0007664406) is NLA, the parts substituted one another.

fwiw I messaged Tom Pelkey, referenced in the original post, to ask for pricing. He said that they prefer to retain original keys for their lock restoration services but can happily offer aftermarket brass blanks, or cut customer-supplied steel originals - "We will examine opportunities to use an original key on a case by case basis. Please try to clarify our position with the forum where this was posted."
