Trying to find out more information regarding my new purchase.  Bought from a dealer with little information.Please let me know his whereabouts if you know him.

I believe the VIN you listed has one too many digits.
I believe it should have 14, and yours has 15.
Probably the seventh digit, a "2", should not be there??? Just a guess.

Would be easy to figure = if the first "2" Mark indicates as extra, that means the VIN would 113044 12 004617, a left hand drive automatic 280 SL

CORRECTION - I must have been in a brain fog yesterday morning - "If the second "2" is missing making the VIN 113 044 21 004617, would make it a right hand drive with manual tranny." - is incorrect. It is "20" that would indicate a right hand drive manual.

Or, if the first "2" was supposed to be a dash, then we'd get 113.043.12.004617,
which would be a fairly late 250SL (left hand drive, auto) as the OP said.
