Does anyone use Silca gel packs for long term car storage in the trunk or interior?

Yes, I do. I use them even for winter storage in my cars.

The first winter I stored my car at my then lake house garage in central Michigan, I picked up a couple of tubs of this silica gel that you are supposed to place in your shrink wrapped boat to absorb moisture.

The car was stored in late October. By January, I checked one of the tubs, and it was basically full of water. I decided then that this was a fool's errand, as not enough silica gel could absorb an autumn's and winter's worth of moisture in my Pagoda. So I just gave up.

Well, it's been nearly 25 years and I don't think the winter storage without silica gel has done any damage to the car.

Though it was many years ago, what I had purchased was something much like this: https://a.co/d/3reN4D6

If your car is in an enclosed space, a more effective way to control humidity is with a dehumidifier that has an external outlet.

I live by the ocean and use a strong déshumidificator which deliver about 2/3 liters per day….🤔
It has an exterior water hose

I use a relatively large amount of silica pellets in my inline air drier to remove -very small amounts of- moisture from the air line to paint gun when I spray paint a car. So it removes water, just not a lot.

The garage where I park and store for winter my 113 and 107 is a concrete slab on grade set into a slope so half the garage is below grade.
It was a very humid place until I bought a residential sized portable , plug in dehumidifier with the outlet hose running to a drain.
The dehumidifier works great. I have it set at 45 humidity level and it is as dry as a bone in that garage year round.
