Hi All

Who do you use for reliable, high quality chrome work in the greater Los Angeles area?

Thanks, Tom

I've used

Supreme Plating & Coating
330 East Beach Avenue
Inglewood, CA  90302
310-671-3640

and

Verne's Chrome Plating
1559 El Segundo Blvd.
Gardena, CA  90249
323-754-4126

I think both are good, with a slight edge to Verne's.  However, he's also usually more expensive, or even prohibitive if it's a part he doesn't really want to do (e.g., anything pot metal).

Sorry to interrupt, guys -- but Chris or anyone, do you know if the chrome bands that surround heater levers would be considered an easy or not so easy part to do? Tom, any chance you are doing those pieces?

(yes, I'm scheming to send ya mine to do at same time...!)

Tom,
One of the best plating shops in Los Angeles is Christensen Plating-
at 323-585-8730.  They do work for the Nethercutt Collection and Jay Leno.  Not fast and not cheap, but worth it if you want the best.

Jim, it is all do-able, you just have to get the pieces off and disassembled.  I did ALL my interior chrome, including removing the little louvers inside the fresh air vents so the main casting could be done.  The louvers themselves were not done, and it was a RPITA, but I did it.

Thank you all for the help.

I've done the heater bezels in the past and they will turn out ok if done right. I also have taken the fresh air vents apart all the way to the last single louver and had every little part re-chromed and I don't recommend it. These pot metal parts tend to get "eaten away" by the acid and chroming process so that the fit afterward is not the same anymore.

I'll be happy to take your heater bezels and do them at the same time, but I can't guarantee exactly when that will be.

Hey Tom,

I appreciate the offer! Now, the parts I was referring to are not the chrome vent areas as Mike described but the strips (grille?) right in center of dash where heater levers reside.

For some reason my chrome on these is lousy -- whereas the rest of the car is (relatively) good. To see the condition, you might click on my Becker post.

Thanks
