W113 pocket watch
« on: July 22, 2020, 02:27:53 »
Hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the extra time with their Pagoda. Wondering if anyone has come across one of these before and may know if these are rare or not?
Perfect working condition ......

Hi Bill thanks for showing us your  very interesting watch,
Probably the best way to find out a little more about its history,is to remove the back,
see what markings ,make, manufature on the watch mechanism,---from there
that should tell you more  about its history.

I can't be sure but it appears to be a generic watch with a new face replicating the Mercedes Speedometer.  I had a bunch of wrist watches made up for a small mercedes event a few years back with a pictue==re of my speedometer and they were very reasonable.   The pocket watches were a bit more but still reasonable so probably not a "one of a kind find'.

I got mine made up on a site on amazon.com and sent the info (picture) away to China and we had watches within 6 weeks.   It was a great addition to the goody bags we put together.  I asked my girls to put an Omega Speedmaster in my goody bag because I ended up giving my "speedometer watch" to another participant who didn't register early enough to get a full goody bag.

I have also seen something like this as a gift when you purchased a new subscription to certain magazines - great little keepsake.

I think a Member here made up quite a few of these watches for those interested members some years ago.  I know I still have one in the side pocket in the Pagoda.

I’ve heard a lot about the W113 pocket watch. If you’re into classic watches, it’s something to appreciate. It’s not every day you come across a timepiece like that. The craftsmanship and vintage charm are awe-inspiring. I’m slightly more into wristwatches, but pocket watches have that unique vibe, like stepping back in time.
If you're looking for something with a similar feel but more modern, check out a rolex replica gmt. Mixing that classic look with a bit of contemporary flair is a solid option.
