RHD 230SL suspected fuel pump issue
« on: December 04, 2024, 02:22:34 »
Hi all

I replaced my fuel tank with a new 65L and the fuel sender as well.

My fuel gauge does not quite work well so I usually reset my odo to 0 when I pump a full tank.

Strange thing happened as I drove my car along the highway, the car had a sudden deceleration while I was coasting so I pulled off the highway onto the main artery roads.  From there, the car started to stutter and at times, stalled.  I pulled into the gas station and based on my estimation, I still had ¼ tank so it cannot be that I am running on empty.  I rested the car for 20 mins and then pumped in 45L and the car showed no issues thereafter.

I am wondering if its my fuel pump that is starting to fail because it needs sufficient petrol load for the fuel pump to work effectively.

If its really a fuel pump issue, is there any source I can get a replacement fuel pump for a RHD 230SL?

You will only know when you drive enough miles to see if the same thing happens again when your estimated fuel remaining reaches the same point.
