Broken horn contact pin
« on: February 13, 2025, 02:22:40 »
I traced a short in the horn wiring circuit to a broken contact pin in the steering column and would appreciate any help or advice on how to proceed next : replacement parts or necessary repairs. Sincere thanks in advance!

Remove the rubber boot around the base of combination switch, just move it out of the way so you can unfasten the two brown wires going to the horn ring contacts. Pop the horn ring contact unit out of the casting. The two brown wires will follow if you have them disconnected at the turn signal combination switch.  It's a common part on most Mercedes sedans of the era. If you can't find one locally, I probably have a couple dozen good used ones around here!

We have recently been looking for this part (contacts with wires) all over the place - somebody was in need... It is out of stock everywhere it used to be available, we did not find one...

Then it is a good news! I looked at Pelican a couple of weeks ago and it was out of stock.
