wouldn't start after car wash
« on: August 13, 2005, 05:38:25 »
This has happened to me a few times. It starts fine after a day or two.  I think it is because the electronic box under the battery tray get wet.  I am just suprised the way it is desinged.  It seems that any water goes inside the hood on the driver side of the engine bay will pass thought that point.  Anyone else has the same issue?

I take it the box you are speaking about is the electronic ignition system.  It is very well sealed with a weather proof connector.  Next time you have the battery out take a look at it and see if the connectors are mating properly.  A good cleaning would be in order while there.  Maybe some other slicing work has been done in the area and the insulation needs attention.

The rubber boot on the electronic iginition module looks good.  I don't see anything obvious wrong.  There are 2 open connectors right next to the electronic ignition mounted in the near area.  Could they be the problem?

BC, are you talking just an exterior spray or are you getting inside engine bay as well?

I washed just the outside of the car but I can see the iginition module was wet after the car wash.

The 2 lug terminal block located next to the electronic ignition is important to to the ignition system.  I would take each screww off one at a time and clean the screw and connectors them re=install and tighten the screw down securely.  There may be corrosion and stuff on the connectors that when wet makes a poor connection.  See if that helps
