membership dues
« on: September 01, 2004, 05:56:32 »
This might not be the right forum for this question, but I'm not sure where the info belongs.....I noticed that I have not received any Pagoda World magazines in 04 and that led me to check my membership, which, it turned out, was due for renewal last Feb. These details go un-noticed in our busy lives. Is it possible to have some sort of automatic reminders sent to members, that they are due to renew? Is it also possible to get the missing back issues?

Hello Ricardo - a couple of things:

- I checked your membership 'file' and your expiration date is July 2, so it's not quite as long ago as you feared
- we've been terribly delayed on issuing Pagoda World number 4 (this is my second  :?  of today! The other was for spreading misinformation in a technical post   ). In fact, although it's almost ready, the first issue for 2004 has yet to come out [:0]. So assuming you have issues 1 thru 3, you have not missed anything yet.
- because of this delay, on the agenda for tomorrow's board (chat) meeting, is the subject of compensating our full members for this. It may take the form of simply extending everyone's full membership by a period of X months
- before we would terminate anyone's membership, we would for sure send reminders etc. There should be no risk of a misunderstanding or miscommmunication.
After tomorrow's chat meeting, we will follow-up towards the full members. In the meantime, thanks for your patience and understanding. This is part of our 'growing up' process as a full-fledged volunteer-club.

Yes Hauser, it is possible to purchase back issues; we had a limited number of extras printed in case someone might want to complete their set. I will contact you offline to arrange the details.

As for pricing, the board is having its periodical chat meeting later today and we'll establish the price for back issues then.

The board last Thursday decided to extend the membership terms as follows:
- full members who joined prior to March 31, 2004: 6 months
- full members who joined between April 1 and June 30, 2004: 3 months
Pagoda World no. 4 will be published by the end of this month (September 2004) and after that, it will resume its normal publication schedule of every 3 months, so the next one (#5) will be a Christmas Issue !

As for back issue pricing, we settled on a price of $8 per issue, plus actual postage. Anyone interested in purchasing back issues 1 through 3, please send me an email.

I produced the first 4 issues and did not keep any "stock" in reserve.  Some of the Board Members might have a couple extra copies as they got more than one of each issue.  They would have to be reprinted if nobody has spares.

Hello Rob. You're 'in luck' since I do have some back copies of no. 1 and 2 which we had printed up. I offered some for sale on Ebay o nbehalf of the club last fall and, each time, sold them. The price is $8 for each issue plus postage cost. Please send me an email if you want me to send them to you and we'll work out the details.

No. 3 has been 'all sold out' for quite some time; 5 is also 'gone'. I still do have some no. 4's left so, in summary, nos 1, 2 and 4 are still available for those who want to sample a copy (basic members), or complete their collection (full members). Just my 2 final cents here: I am convinced that, 10 years from now, when the Group is on their issue #40, these early ones will be "collector's items"!

I sent a check on for dues about a month ago. It was to use a different username than this one, I registered using this one for the time being simply to enjoy the forums.  Is there any way that my dues payment can be researched and my real membership can be started??

As long as we are on magazines - any chance to get issue 3 & 4.
I like to have a full set.

How do we set up to a signature on the forms?

Thanks
