Brake calipers
« on: September 13, 2005, 14:52:38 »
Hi Guys,
I have an early 230 SL with rear brake drums.  Now I just got my hands on a front suspension from a 280 SL, so I was wondering if I could use those parts to replace the rear drums with those front calipers.
Please let me know.
Regards,
Hassan

Hello Hassan,
Sorry, the front drums and calipers are completely different from the rear. However if you want to upgrade your front brakes the calipers are the latter version and should bolt right up to the 230SL. The drums will work in front also.

I think the only way to get rear disk brakes on a 230SL is to replace the whole axle.
