Thermostat Housing
« on: September 10, 2005, 12:13:17 »
:) A good friend of mine has a 1969 280sl.  I noticed on his thermostat housing that he doesnt have a wire going to it, like mine.  He simply has a brass bolt on the top of the housing.

:?: What is the purpose of the wire going to the thermostat?  Is this part of the later emission controls?

Thanks!
Bob

Hello Bob,
My first thought is that someone may have disconnected the wire and removed the sensor.  Look around for a single wire loose. Most 69s have the factory transistorized ignition with the timing relays. Look around for these components. Is it a USA delivery car?
