113 early vs late door stricker dilemma
« on: September 24, 2005, 05:23:08 »
I recently aquired a 1965 230SL that had extensive body panel replacements previously to include new rear door posts. Unfortunatly, they used posts from a 113 280sl. The female portion where the door stricker locks into in the door jamb now reuires the later style four screw style vs the original 3 screw. Rather than modify the post to accept the original 3 screw reciever, I want to change the stricker assemblies in the doors to a later style. Can this be done?

I purchased what I thought were later style 113 strickers only to find thay don't work. I think (hope) what they sent me were 107 or 108 strickers. I don't want to modify the new posts to revert back to the early style.

Has anybody out there gone done this road. Help. I have a beautifully restored 230sl that I can't drive because my doors won't close.

I will post pictures of dilemma shortly.

I think they can be swapped and I would suggest you contact Michael Medill info@mercedesusedparts.com as he has a large supply of these parts and will send you a refurbished set of what you need

Contact Dan Caron (Dr. Benz), I purchased an early striker from him several months ago and he has the later (280SL) ones as well.
