Can someone please tell me what the correct make and size tyres are for a 1971 280SL

If you do a search on this site, you are bound to come up with all the relevant info. There is one thread in particular that is very informative, I believe it is titled "tire nirvana" and was started by Michael Salemi.

First, look on your data card (Fahzeug-Daten)under item 19: Bereifung and then under item 41: If it says 5, then it means "white wall, Continental. Data card available from MB Classic.

Hi Sebring,

The correct size for all W113 (230, 250, and 280) is: 185 HR 14 (which means 185/80 R14, and speed ratio "H" = up to 210 km/h).

I think only one make is now producing this tyre in the correct size and speed ratio: Michelin MXV-P 185 HR 14
