How do the heater controls work?
« on: June 18, 2003, 13:04:21 »
The gentleman I bought my Pagoda from had the heater levers replaced and they are excellent condition.  I don't have the owners manual, and have absolutely no idea what each position does.  Any information would be great.

Rodd,
Owner's manuals are available. Do a search under 280sl on e-Bay and I believe you will find something. There are also other places to get them, but someone else will need to advise you on that.

Hi Thom,

If you want a new owner's manual for your car, the MB part number is:

For 250/280 SL (1966-71), in English:  6510 9119 02
Price in Germany: 22 euros (around 25 US Dollars)

I think you can order it through your local MB dealer, or you can order it through the MB Classic Center USA (32.99 US Dollars):

(This should probably be a "new topic")

I thought it was strange that the Owner's Manuals on Ebay (about $70)were more expensive than the new items from M-B.  However, the one I got from  M-B  for $25 or so is very cheaply made.  The cover is all silver with some white lettering, and the contents appears to be bad photo-copies.  The page (8)with the picture of the instruments and controls is just a dark smudge. The Ebay manuals seem to have more realistic looking green/cream covers, but I haven't seen the contents.

Will,
The Owners manuals from the Classic Centre in Germany still have the Green/White cover but are reprints and the quality is not as good as original but better than the silver covered printed in the US. Also originals were in 6? languages and printing was in 2 colors. The reprints are German/English and print is black only.

Yes naj,

I bought mine for the 230 SL in the MB Classic Center in Germany, and it has the Green/White good quality covers, and good black & white print quality. Maybe the new MB Classic Center in USA is selling now the same owner's manuals than the German, because (see the link in my previous message) they use the same part number. In any case you could ask details there. According to Will comments, if the Classic Center USA is still selling the silver covered owner's manual, it's better to buy it through the German Classic Center.
