halogenbulb for headlights
« on: December 13, 2005, 08:53:21 »
I remember a thread about the possibility of replacing the weak original lightbulbs with halogen once but, cannot find it back in the files. There was a socket issue I recall,1- can somebody refresh my memory 2- do I need to buy the halogenbulbs at my local MBZ-dealer or can I buy it anywhere? Thanks

Paul, think you are referring to the H4 bulb conversion?  Is that what you mean?

Do you have Euro lights ?

Being in Belgium, you propably do, so all you have to do is get NARVA 48884 60/55 halogens , They have the P45T base that your original R2 45/40 Bilux  have , so they drop right in.  No wiring changes needed .  Very substantial upgrade for short $$$.

If by chance you have the 7" sealed beams, you can convert to Halogens with a kit from Hella,Chibbe , or Bosch, that comes w'7" lens and H4 replaceable lamps.  The Euros are better.

.......this is what I did !

Excellent upgrade, made a huge difference. The lights on my 113 are vastly superior to my fathers C-Class !

I need to take the lenses apart though as the dust/dirt is getting behinds onto the inside of the glass. Time for some new seals I reckon !

Indeed I have Euro-headlights just bought a new set from bosch. They are delivered without the bulbs. But isn't it so that in these lights the fog lights are integrated and can they also be converted to halogens?
