Mechanic in NYC

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic who has experience in 280's?  Presently, I take mine to Autobahn on 91st.  They are good and quite fairly priced.  Only problem is that they hang on to the car for far too long as thet are always jammed up.

Any recommendation to a good body shop as well?

Dominique,

Does the mechanic have to be IN new york city? if not, there's a wonderful mechanic in tenafly, NJ called wolfgang's.

body shops are even trickier. i use a shop in upper fairfield county that is very experienced in 113s. the fellow's name is kent bain and the shop is automotive restorations in stratford, CT on barnum ave.

now for my question -- are you a male or female? i ask because you may have the distinction of being the only female full member.

Sorry to disappoint.  Just like the rest of you lot.

Thanks for the information.  I would very much prefer it if the garages are located within the city.  I take my other car out to a marque specialist out in Mineola for servicing.  The travel time is a right pain and the whole ordeal inconvenient.  However, it's good to know that there are good people nearby in case I have a big job that needs looking at.  Hopefully not too soon.

Once again, my SL was sent back to Autobahn this morning to finish up with the electrical work and the resealing of a window seal.  Hopefully, I'll have it back no later than tomorrow.

Cheers again!

Dominique,

MB recommended me Exclusive Euro Auto Sales.
they are located 507 w 24th street
212 727 01 15
they are specialized in mercedes.
Just went there ounce: my turning signal had dropped dead.
we are waiting for a switch, but in the mean time they got my signal working again, even though I have to hold it now.
surprisingly enough for NYC, they didn't charge me for that and told me to bring back the car when they have the spare part.

I also heard that Kraft German autos in Brooklyn is not bad (718 451  25 00), but I have never been there.

Douglas,  I've heard good things about Wolfgang's in Tenafly NJ.  How is the quality of service and hourly rate?  I live in central NJ so it's about an hour north.  Thanks-

Little precision, on Exclusive auto sales, it is actually Called Chander Auto repair, same phone number and the address to get there is 245 10th avenue (at 24th street).

I discovered another one which is specialised in Jaguar and Rolls Royce, but has 1 guy doing Mercedes (they service many antique cars, such as XKE, etc) at 73 street and York which could be an good option. A friend of mine had some body work done on a Porsche there and was very happy:
