Pagoda Video on Yahoo

Unfortunately, I don't have the right software to view this, but I noticed there's a Pagoda video on Yahoo. Run a search using their video search feature on "Mercedes + Pagoda" and you'll see it. Perhaps someone can report to the group what it's about.

That search immediately produced the results Douglas.  The standard download of Realplayer worked fine for this clip on my mac.  It is a free download from the realplayer site.

The clip is 2:40 long and about half of this devoted to Bohringer and the rally success. A lot of driving demo and some shots of the rear axle over bumps at speed.  Of note, they said the MBZ execs were resistant to entering the new 230SL in the SSL rally but the racing division convinced them to do it.

The first link contains the autochannel page this clip seems to be listed at with many other car videos. The second is the clip Douglas mentioned.

Good eye, Douglas. It focuses on the 230SL almost exclusively, highlighting its break from the 190 and 300s. Like Chad mentioned, much has to do with Bohringer and his victory. Most of the other footage is a nice white 230SL hauling some major but around various curvy terrain. I have never dared to go so fast! It is cool.

I found the final lines of the 230 video interesting:

In replacing the 190 SL & the 300 SL the engineers found a “middle way”.  “The result was neither a non compromising roadster nor a soft boulevard sports car but a two seater touring high performance model with optimal driving safety.”

Again the approval of some members' devotion regarding these cars. That's why I love this site!
