230SL S/N on the fence...1966 or 1967?
« on: February 07, 2006, 09:40:44 »
It turns out one of my co-workers owns a 1967 230SL with s/n 0019811 and has always been curious when it was manufactured?  We know it's a 1967 model year but the s/n sits on the fence of Dec. '66 or Jan.'67.  She does not have the data cards.  Does anyone have extensive data that provides the actual dates?  Thanks.

19832 was the last 230SL manufactured in January 1967. Your aquaintance has a Jan. 1967 car.

Jeff,

When you have the chance, look though the "database" section of this site. VERY informative for stuff like this.

Sounds like one of the last 230.  Is it a manual?

No, it is an automatic.  She has been the own since the early 1970's.  She used the car as a daily driver for 10 years and commuted to and from Lockheed in Burbank (now in Marietta, GA).  Signal Red...a sweet looking car.  She told me her Christmas present from her husband was a hard top restoration and she was real excited (a woman after my own heart!).  8)
