paint codes or formulas
« on: March 02, 2006, 09:59:20 »
Dear all, in the restoration project of my 280 SL, 1969, I need to begin the painting process. The color of my car is originally DB-423 Tobacco Brown but I want to change to DB-180 as was a beatiful 230 in Joe Alexander past tech session.
The paint resellers in my cowntry can not identify neither of the codes. Does anybody knows what would be the color code equivalent to DB-180 on Dupont or PPG products? these are the leading local brands.
There are some other brands but they can prepare the color by try and error but not by formulas.
Any Ideas would be appreciated.

I have some of these paint code books, that might have the formula, but am not at home until the weekend. If no one else has replied by then, I will do the look up to see what I can find for you.
