Heater Hoses Replacement
« on: May 25, 2006, 09:57:31 »
I am planning to replace the hoses that connect from the engine to the heater.  I would like some advice on whether I need to drain the coolant to do this.  If I do not drain the coolant, how much will I lose?

When was the last time you drained the coolant?  It should be done every 2 years, I believe.

The coolant was replaced about year and a half ago. I want to know if I need to plan to replace them.

Louis,
The heater hoses are about the highest point of the cooling system. If you drain some coolant out you will be OK. The real challenge is re-filling they system and getting the air out. Some of our cars have a bleeder bolt on top of the thermostat.

Thank you for the help. I will drain some coolant before I start.  I am planning to replace the thermostat anyway.
