On the way in the Oldtimer Paradies...
A view of the map is sufficient: Great Britain lies directly before
our Entry-Door. The Problem: unfortunately one gets oneself on the
way there wet feet. Or one gets involved in the Christian See-Drive.
Because that is a little pedantic, the island was in the past
isolated despite all colonialistic ambitions of their inhabitants
always a little. Some old customs in the Kingdom of the change of
the times survived reason. To these customs it belongs as well known
that the Britisher prefers Malzessig  over his frits, that a
Yorkshire pudding pours not as Dessert and evenly the habit of the
Car-Drivers serves to drive on the wrong roadside.
To 19.05. it was so far. 5 Mercedes-Oldtimers landed with the Ferry
in Rosyth (Harbour near by Edinburgh). Starting from there we drove
one zigzag-purely by Scotland, always on the search for still Roads
and still more impressing views. There is not the completely large
touristic attractions, there are which to see in this part of Great
Britain. But many Castle's, countryseats, wonderful garden plants
with sounding names s
umten infinitely our distances. Many of the
old villages with its break stone houses would have been worth it to
foot to be investigated and many daily distances led by one many of
the National-Parks.
But we had only 13 days available for a distance of approximately
2,500 km. Therefore we left many of these opportunities out. Driving
over lonely Single Cross-Routes by these wonderful Landscapes simply
made too much fun.
Have a Look for some of my Fotos and excuse my bad English.

Thank you for the fotos.  I looks like a gute fahrt.  Did you survive the malzessig on your frits and the wrong side driving?  Was that a Binz Benz station wagon with you on the trip?

Detlef,
Great pictures, looks like you had yourself a nice cruise through the countryside of Scotland and enjoyed the sights.
How is the driving there?  I've never been there and would like to go some day.
Also great to see another fintail wagon.
Thanks,

Hello Walter.
Scotland is a Paradies for Oldtimers an Drivers. Particularly well
the north and the west coast pleased me.
The Roadmap is not complete, because I remained 4 days longer like
the remainder of the group. And I drove again up to the Ile OF
Kintyre in South-West. You know nevertheless the Song of Paul Mc

Mull OF Kintyre
? Super.
If you want, I make times a copy of my complete Roadbook for you.

Detlef
I looked through the first few and thought "That looks like Skye", and then came across Eilean Doran castle and knew you must have visited Skye. I am envious, I have always wanted to take my car that way - did it in my SLK a few Christmases ago and loved it.
Oh, and on today's performance, I would not bet against Spain!   8)
