Paradise by the ... shop windows?
« on: August 06, 2006, 00:48:53 »
Every once in a while, I drive by an extended series of windows that reflect what is driving by. You know, shop windows or a big office building. When traffic conditions allow (the 'best' is if sitting in traffic) I peek over to see ... the car in silhouette, and how it stands out from the rest of the line-up. Always brings a smile to my face!

I agree with Cees... made the same revelation recently while driving down Central Ave. in Albuquerque! BIG THRILL! :D
Also... every once in awhile I get a parking spot just outside my favorite coffee shop, I sit at the window and get BIG smiles on my face as the steady stream of passersby stop to look at my baby... sometimes bumping into the person in front while their head is craned while trying to read my front plate!

Plates read: "IT'S A 67" and "69 4-KIKS"

Since I'm usually driving down a road at speeds too fast to glance into a window reflection, even if there were one, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing mine outside the field of view of being the driver.

But a week ago, my next door neighbor of 20 years recently got remarried, and his wife now thinks she wants what I have ... a 113.  So he drove mine around a big empty parking lot we happened to be at and for the 1st time I saw what mine looks like while being driven down the street by somebody else... I was really impressed.... is that beauty really mine?

Recently while I was driving the 300C pulling a trailer loaded with my Daughter's new funiture I followed my wife driving My car.  Its a pleasure to see it as others see it move down the road and swoop around the corners.  Also from back there I could see the side glances of other motorist.

Yesterday while loading my purchases from Trader Joe's in Santa Barbara a British fellow stopped for quite a while to exclaim how beautiful my SL was. Really, it's a solid #2 driver, but with red/tan  and shiny with a good wax job, it is striking.  He said he be living in Santa Barbara for a while and was thinking about getting one.  We also chatted about how much more expensive the car is in the UK than in the US, even taking out the VAT.  Many people genuinely enjoy seeing a nice Pagoda.  Some say, "I always wanted one of those."
