Decals for '70 280SL
« on: August 08, 2006, 06:51:44 »
I recently purchased a set of decals from Bud's Benz and and there are three that I can't identify as to where they go.  One is approx 2 1/4" X 5" and it  provides emission, idle rpm and timing data.  The second is a small 1" X 2" red lettered decal which states "IMPORTANT! Use cover with No. 100 only".  The third is a window decal which has a blue 3/4" circle with six arrows pointing to it.  In the circle is -30 and -22 degrees C.  Can someone help in identifing these?  Thanks

Lindy,

1st label: don't know.
2nd label: coolant overflow tank; the No. 100 refers to the number stamped into the cover on the coolant tank.  Take advice--make sure yours is stamped 100.  Often someone gets a cover that simply fits like from Autozone.  Make sure yours says 100.
3rd: This is an a/c lable and goes somewhere on the windscreen of the car, but don't really think it was appropriate for the W113's.

First label goes on the valve cover in the front on the driver's side of the car.

3rd label is a coolant label. It's the "snowflake label." It belongs on the driver's side of the windshield down in the corner right around where the Sekurit logo is. It is definitely suitable on a late-model 280 SL (1970/1971). Don't know whether it was on anything earlier. (It was also on later early 70s MB vehicles as well.)
