5 speed gear - is this correct?
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:31:10 »
Hello

I found this on Ebay (in Germany)
http://cgi.ebay.de/BMW-E3-E9-E12-E24-E28-E30-Getriebe-M5-M6-M3-3-0-W113_W0QQitemZ140049536236QQihZ004QQcategoryZ61164QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What makes me wonder is the seller claims this gearbox for BMW E24 also fits and is beloved for the Pagode. (Auch sehr beliebt für W113 Pagode)

Anybody know if this is true? Is the Getrag box a direct bolt on the Pagode after a changing the clock? If this is correct it is probably an inexpensive way to get a 5 speed in a Pagoda.

The bell housing is for a slant 6 engine mounting, not even close to fitting the 127,129,130 motors, the rear flange looks more like the 114/late 108 flex disc than the 111/113. Even if the input shaft would fit the clutch disk, and a bell housing that fit could be found, It still looks like it would fit like a saddle on a sow.
I guess it could be made to work, but you could say the same about a G.M. 4L60 hydromatic. With enough work I guess anything could be shoe-horned in there.
