Fuel flow rate tool How ?
« on: November 09, 2006, 10:15:14 »
I looked through the technical articles provided and I know we have talk
about before. what is the process to measure the fuel delivery flow from the injector and testing the cold start valve?
what kind of tools are needed and can they be made or purchase from bosch or other distributors such as an hour galsss container measured in mills?

I appreciatee any information.

Bob,

You ask about the fuel flow rate "from the injector".  I'm not sure what you're trying to measure here.  The typical fuel flow rate I hear people describing is this:

- Clamp flexible fuel line that is returnnig from engine bay to fuel tank.
- Remove line from tank and put end into a container.
- Turn ignition to "1" so the electical fuel pump runs but the engine does not start.
- Let it run for 15 seconds.
- Measure fuel in container.
- Attach line back to tank.
- Test for fuel leaks.

OK class, how much fuel should flow in 15 second?

Also, Bob, you asked about the cold start valve.  There's a allen bolt on the side that should allow fuel to come out at the time it would normally be going into the intake manifold.  You'll probably have to have someone else start the car to see if this is working.  If it doesn't give up any fuel, then you need to figure out if it's an electrical or physical problem.

Hello Bob,

Are refering to delivery (volume) and delivery pressure of the fuel from the electric fuel pump at the engine?
