Agree 50% with Ben:
I don't like wire wheels in a Pagoda either (even 300 SL Gullwing and Roadster -9 years older than the W113- had already left these kind of wheels, so it doesn´t sound logical to recover them for a Pagoda)...
But I don't like the alloy wheels -factory option for latest 280 SL- in a W113 (for me they are wheels from the '70 in a car from the '60). I always prefer it with the painted hubcaps (the early two-pieces hubcaps if possible). I think the 280 SL's alloy wheels (designed much later than the Pagoda) fit better with the R107... but as always, it's a matter of personal tastes... and for this reason MB offered the car in so many colors!
