Brake line clamp in wheel well
« on: November 24, 2006, 22:15:55 »
Hello All,
I am hoping that someone can post a picture showing how the rigid brake line is held in place where it enters the wheel well. Specifically, I would like to know how the parts numbered 77 - 81 are put together.
Thanks!

Thanks Bob,
but I am not sure. The function - coupling the brake line to the flexible brake hose - is the same of course, but your parts look different, specifically part #78.
Is there no attachement of the brake line to the wall? Still puzzled :(

alfred,
so the photo from bob and your schematic can be confusing.
if you look carefully at bobs photo,
77 goes between the incoming metal line and the rubber hose
then
79 thru 81 bolt to the chassis and also hold 78, the large hole in 78 holds the end of the rubber hose.

when I replaced my lines I had to loosen bolt 79 to allow 78 to align with the new hose so I could line it all up.

Thanks Matt,
I believe I understand it now.  My problem was that I couln't find a square hole for the "caged clip-on" nut on the chassis - it's all covered now with new undercoating. I'll start scraping tomorrow.

Alfred

I got your off forum call for help.
piece 78 in the photo is for holding the flex line so that it doesn't twist in the frame bracket when steering. When installing the flex line it (76) needs to be installed so the hose stays clear of the tire and frame through the full range of the steering. Once the flex line is in position then piece 78 is placed anround the hex of the hose fitting and the 6mm bolt goes through the slot to hold it to the frame bracket.
