Flex car polisher.

I have a request from our German group members. I am got work on a new polisher from flex that will not for some reason not discussed with me by corporate that will not be sold in the United states.

I would like to know if one of our German members can check into purchasing this polisher for me and sending it to me in the United States?

I am very willing to pay up front. The part number is XC-3401-URG orbit polisher from flex.For 12 volt three fase electrical.

Bob are you sure that you have 3 phase service?
It is only available in industrial locations.
USA 3 phase service is usualy 208,230 or 460 volts at 60hz. Aren't euro electricals 50hz?

Bob,

Too bad you can't get what you want here.  Porter Cable is the USA Flex distributor and it isn't in their catalog.

However, I'd check into that voltage issue.  If it is 12V it has to be a DC unit like would run off a car battery.  Most units like this would be line voltage; if Euro it would be 220V/50Hz.  You couldn't run it here w/o a transformer (it's 900 Watts) and even then w/o an inverter your speed range would be different.  Unless of course you had a 50Hz to 60Hz converter...

I've never heard of a 3-phase hand-held, but that's not to say it doesn't exist.  3-Phase power is generally used for larger horsepower motors (5 and up)so you don't have as much current--meaning cooler running, longer life, etc.  All the pump motors at my car wash are 208VAC/3 phase; some as small as the 1.5HP that powers the Reverse Osmosis water purifier.

The website info only lists power, not voltage!

Yes Bob the guys are correct. To be 12V it must be a DC unit for battery use, or you will need either and Inverter or converter !

Also European frequency is 50Hz, though this is not an issue as any 50Hz motor will run at 60Hz no problem. The Euro voltage is 220/230/240V or 380/400V.

I expect this is the main reason why the manufacturer will not sell it here. There may also be a Certificate of Conformity required, "UL" in your case whilst the Euro one may be "CE" marked. They are both pretty similar but unless the investment has been made to ensure complianceb the products will not inter trade !
