bumper over-riders
« on: December 01, 2009, 16:16:31 »
I see some on 230s but I thought they only came in with the 280SL's.  Can someone clarify?

As far as I know they were on the later models, I think after July of 67! & only on US version.

There were some aftermarket ones available.  Roman Bartl (a member here we don't hear from too often) has a set on his 1966 230 SL, and they appear larger than the factory ones and also appear to be made of aluminum.

The aftermarket, larger bumper guards, were available in the 60's, and are not that uncommon to see on 230SL's and 250SL's today. They are not the best looking bumper guards and actually look like they don't belong on the car. As Michael had mentioned, they are not chromed, and are too long.
