230 motor conversion to a 280 motor

Hello everyone,
I have a 66 230sl motor with 2 dead cylinders that needs to be rebuilt.  I have found a company that will ship me a rebuilt 280 motor using my 230 as a core.  How straight forward would this conversion be?  Would I need new injectors, etc?  Are there any how-to guides out there to do this conversion?  Hopefully it's plug and play :)

by chance did you call metric motors?

I just received my 230 sl motor back from them and they did a great job rebuilding the entire unit.  and yes it looks as good as their photos on their web site.

it was $6500 but they come highly recommended by restorers and other on this site.

if you haven't already and you have the cash ,
get the inj pump rebuilt and the injectors tested  $980 at H&R.
I also sent my tranny out for rebuild $1200 it needed new clutches.


it may be worth it to have your motor rebuilt than drop in a 280.

also from what I have ready the extra cc's did not make that much of a difference in hp since the larger motors were heavier.

The company is Adsit company inc. (www.adsitco.com).  They quoted $6000 to rebuilt the 230 engine.  Anyone have any feedback on them?

I will look @ metric motors.  did they do your tranny as well?  

Mainly I was inquiring about the 280 swap due to the increased power, but based on the feed back (thanks Merrill and Benz Dr. !) I might as well just do the 230 rebuild.  The injector pump is new and the injectors seem to fine at this point.

This will get me started for now.  Unfortunately the 230 met the rear bumper of a Honda Civic 5 years ago and the front sheet metal, grill, headlights, etc need serious TLC as well.
