Shipping Europe-US
« on: May 16, 2007, 00:10:54 »
Hi Guys (and the occasional girl),

It may be necessary to ship the XJS 6-litre from Swizterland to Florida this year.  What are the European members' recent experiences with doing this?  I know, for instance, that Cees has a track record...how about others?

Thanks for any helpful pointers and company references.

Trice,

I've shipped over a Pagoda recently (seller to Baltimore to Bremerhaven to me). I have a good forwarder in the US whose number I can give you if you like. She is extremely honest and helpful and has the advantage of being a one man (woman) band so no large agencies to deal with, speaking to a different person each time.

Contact me off line if you're interested and I'll put you in touch.

Trice,
Mercedes-Benz uses E.H.Harms for its exports to the US, they are partially owned by BLG (Bremer Lagerhaus Gesellschaft), see: http://www.blg.de/logistics/automobile_en.php.
Harms has an office in Sindelfingen, but also in several other places in Europe.
I guess shipping from Switzerland you may also inquire with Swiss companies that have a good reputation, e.g. Kuehne und Nagel.
All these companies do individual transports, not only manufacturer quantities. Their personnel is used to handling cars and they mostly use dedicated car transport ships.
