hood sound proofing

I have read the various threads on sound / heat proofing and want to ask this:-

can one put sound proofing panels under the hood and expect any difference in sound and would this material whatever one used, assist the engine in getting even hotter as the heat cant escape through the hood itself?

I bought a W107 pad on ebay in 1999 and cut it to fit.  I would do a better job today and I wouldn't use construction adhesive as I did then.  Pad has helped with sound and no affect on motor temp.

Good Luck
