Cons. Speed Sol. not working
« on: June 22, 2007, 07:12:12 »
So I happened to be replacing some of the ball joints on the linkages yesterday and out of curiousity I figured I would check the operation of the above solenoid and I was dismayed to find it didn't work !

I have not experienced any difficulties with the car, either idling or shifting. So I tried to hear the 3 pos. solenoid on the 'box to see if it clicked, as I had checked this last year after tranmisson problems.

So far I have checked and adjust the throttle switch with a meter, its adjusted and does switch. With the car in gear ign on the 3 Pos. SOlenoid sol will click once off idle, again at kickdown but when returned to idle it does not return fully. I can move it back manually but this still does not move the CSS at all !

I will check the CSS later directly from the battery but it looks like the 3Pos.Sol. is dead yeah ??

Can it be changed out without dropping the box ??

Anything else I can check ?

Regards,
Ben in Ireland.

Ben,
if you do a search you shoug find a post on how to remove the outer cover and clean the css. Sounds like it works but may need a cleaning.

Guys thanks for your help & suggestions. I had that link saved already and i sorted the problem !

I hot wired the Constant Speed Solenoid and it worked so, I went to check the 3 Pos. one and with the cover removed inside the car I could hear it click and see it move.

I removed and cleaned up all the wiring conections down the and discovered the earth lead was corroded and full of cr4p. Cleaning everything got things working again !

Ta everyone !
