so, found out today the hard way to change the alt. after disconnecting the wires, I unbolted the adjuster and removed the belt and left the adjuster clamp in the car AND I then removed the long pivot bolt from the alt / mounting bracket.
then all sorts for washers and spacers fell out.
next time , just disconnect all the wires, fan belt and leave the adjusting clamp / nut on the alt. then remove the 2 bolts from the bracket and all is much eaier to get to and re assemble.
