Engine bay picture
« on: September 18, 2007, 11:30:58 »
In his Blacklick '07 presentation, Peter Lesler used a photo enlargment of a new pagoda engine bay. He said this picture was available "on our website". I have searched for it without success. Can someone direct me to it? My need is to identify all the bits and pieces that are yellow cad plated. I'm thinking of tackling these (replating) as a winter project.
Thanks

It's here somewhere, but it's also available on this site along with scans of the period brochure:

That's definitely a good winter project. Please share pix of your progress & good luck.

Thanks for the great engine bay pic.  I now know how to route the tach cable.  Unfortunately the clip that should be on the spark plug wire bracket, the one through which the cable passes, is long gone. But that is just something else to look for.  Not that I am such a stickler, but how come that cable looks so different from mine, which is much smoother?  And is the clip something that anyone has sourced anywhere?

Thanks, and best,
g

g,

I wouldn't worry about the texture of the cable.  They probably had several sources.

Another thing that's interesting is the vacuum line/check valve assembly...in the photo is looks like black rubber hose.  Mine never looked like that, and the replacement looked different yet!  Clear poly tube.

Michael, thats the same set up I have in my late 250sl along with the same Tach cable shown in picture.i had to chage the old style hose claps when I changed the check valve though, could not figure out how to put them back on after I removed the old style :(

Hello Micheal,

The earlier W113 cars had the black rubber brake booster vacuum line with the "twist style" band clamps.  The fitting on the brake booster was also different on these cars.
