Heater Core Replacement
« on: July 24, 2007, 18:14:48 »
I've been reading all the Problems 113 owners have with replacing/repairing heater cores.  Has anyone found a heater core, say from a different car, that fits??

Stories about a heater core from a xyz car fiting a totaly differnt car are fairly common.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, rb6667

I you may find one from a donor sl, but by the time you get yours out, it probably would not cost that much to have your local radiator shop install a new core etc...

I think the only hard part is getting the heater core out.  I doubt that another will just drop in because of the side flanges that screw into the car structure to hold it in place.  It's a snug fit.  These side flanges and another piece come loose (solder joints break), but are easily repaired once you have it out.  Do a pressure check or recore if necessary, resolder the side bits and you're good to go.
