I am in Southern Cal. this weekend, and was tooling around north county San Diego and stopped at Silver Star Mercedes (in Escondido). Wow! This is a one person operation, Franz, who has been in the area for a number of years. I stopped and spent a very pleasant hour or so chatting. He had over a dozen 113's in various states of repair, including several one owner cars! I cannot speak to overall history, since I just met the man, but it appears worth a look for those in the area.
He was working on a 1915 era Packard for a friend, and was having some gears manufactured for the transmission. There was a 300SL roadster, several 111 coupes and cabs, a 100 that was going back east to be converted to a Paul Bracque (MDS are you listening) style 600 pickup truck!
