Did mercedes euro delivery 4 years ago with our currnet s class.  MB did a phenomenal job but modern mercedes are frought with quality issues and they also had to good sense to discontinue included service so its time for a change.  Looking at BMW 750 and audi a8, both offer incentive for euro delivery- planning on a week in april (wife and 13 yo). after delivery any suggestions for an itinerary starting in munich and ending in zurich?  We did the stuttgart- baden baden- tyrol - munich route last time.

was thinking- munich - vienna  -venice - lucerne - zurich

Peter

I came to my new S class as a very unhappy owner of a 2002 CL500 (corrosion problems) and a 2003 E320 (electrical problems). Eight months in I am delighted with the S class and I would dare to suggest that the quality is right back where it should be. I bought the diesel version having thought very hard about the S500 (which I think is sold as the 550 in the USA). One of my business partners has the 5.5 litre petrol and this is a stunning engine - fast (very), refined and almost economical.

Sometimes, however, it is just time for a change. I could not persuade my wife to keep the faith and so the E320 got changed for a BMW 535d.

Enjoy whatever you buy.

Road trip sounds good.

Regards
Andrew

Mercedes had tremendous quality problems and has grudgingly acknowledged that.
In the JD Power Initial Quality Study, the most prominent quality survey in the US, Mercedes was at rank 25 still in 2006 (BMW 27, Audi 18).
In June 2007, Mercedes was at rank 5, the most improved of all brands (BMW 21, Audi 26).

i've been impressed within the 30k miles we have placed, I had the rotors once and pads replaced twice so far, now yet again we have a beautiful squeal at 7500 miles after my last pad replacement.  As far as I know my wife isnt doing autocross on the weekends and mercedes noted the short pad life is due to the lack of asbestos in the pads now.  Couple that with intermittent seat problems in that they randomly choose not to work, never seems to happen when I go in for service,  the VERY large puddle in my driveway three days after delivery in 05 from the defective coupling in the air con cooler which drianed all the radiator fluid into the driveway, the childseat sensor that detected a babyseat in the passenger positiion, hence deactivating the airbags making it the most dangerous seat in the car ( i felt like a chauffer driving everyone around with no front seat passenger)
