Fuel line plating

As soon as it is warm enough to spend time in the garage, I intend to remove the bits and pieces that were yellow cad, and send them out for replating.

My question is; are the fuel lines (and nuts)plated with the flare nuts in place, or are the nuts removed and reinstalled with new flares after the plating? Or, is there yet another way of doing it?

Any cautions or advice would be very welcome.

Gus,

I had my auto transmission filler tube plated and it has the nut in place I believe.  Did not seem to be an issue.

If you are having them plated, may as well do it correctly and have them properly Cadmium plated with a gold phosphate finish.  It's too easy to take a step backward with zinc chromate finishing.

Prime Plating http://www.prime-plating.com/ is a good source--good work and reasonably priced.

Michael, thank you for the response. I worded my question badly, let me try again. To replate the fuel injection lines (from the IP to the cylinders), would the flare nuts have to be removed from the lines, for the plating process? If so, are the flares deformed and then re-made after the plating when the nuts are to be reinstalled?

I understood your question.  As I mentioned the auto transmission filler tube also has an "attached nut" that does not come off.  I had this Cadmium plated and it did not seem to be an issue.

But then again, I did not do it; best to simply call Prime Plating.
