Wiper relay Clicks
« on: February 19, 2008, 17:10:37 »
The wiper relay clicks and the wipers do not work.  The linkage is free.  Is there a way to override or test the relay?  OR can you easily test the wiper motor without taking the dash out?

John,

Remove the connector from the relay.  The bottom of the relay should identify pin numbers 85, 86, 56, 56a and 56b.  Identify the female connectors that correspond to pins 56 and 56b.  Insert a jumper wire into the female connector for pin 56 and female connector for 56b.  This will turn the wiper motor on.

I noticed that you have another post concerning blinker speeds.  Did the problem with the blinker and wiper motor start at the same time?  If so you may have an issue with the stalk switch.  Both the blinker and wiper speed are controlled by this stalk.

Thanks for your message.  Can you tell me where the stalk switch is.  John

When I refer to the stalk I mean the turn signal arm that comes off the steering column.  Inside the head of the stalk are switches to turn the wipers off/on and to contol wiper speed fast/slow.  The turn signal swiches are in the base of the stalk nearest the steering column.
