Time for new weather seals
« on: October 14, 2003, 07:17:36 »
I need to replace most of the rubber weather seals on my car. The trunk and soft top boot especially. Any tips? I see the rubber is available. I'm assuming this was glued in at the factory. Sounds like a job for a good razor blade and a lot of patience. Thanks for any insight.

Lemforder seals that have some cloth to them are a ittle bit more money... but when you do the seals around the  door windows, they are worth it. Bargains on e-bay are not always a bargain! The glass slides easier! Also when doing your trunk seal leave it in the trunk for a couple of days before you glue it so it gets relaxed in the fit. For the trunk seal you want it to make a C shape so that it seals the trunk lid. I often see this seal glued in wrong! Even though there is a guide groove for mounting. Look at a well done car you will see what I mean. The bottom of the trunk groove and the inboard portion of that groove gets rubber and glue, the outboard surface does not. Hope this makes sense.
Best of luck, Ernie
