Looking for a Pagoda for a photo shoot
« on: June 11, 2008, 15:59:39 »
Hello,

We’re from Creative Film Cars in Manhattan. We are the Northeast’s premier provider of vehicles for film, television, fashion shoots, magazines and events.

We are looking for a Mercedes-Benz W113 with a green exterior for a photo shoot for a print advertisement for a high-end fashion client.

The shoot will be taking place in Montauk, NY on Thursday, June 19th.   It is a static shoot and no driving will be required.  You will be compensated for your time and the rental, and your vehicle will be fully insured for the duration of the shoot.

Please don’t hesitate to call us at 212-864-4060 if you are interested in participating, and we will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

To describe more fully what we do:

First, we act as an agent for your vehicle. You supply us with a few photos and we put them in front of our hundreds of clients, and on our online database. When a client selects your ride, we contact you immediately, see if you’re interested, and send you a contract. In most cases no driving will be required. They just have to look the part. You will be paid for the rental and your time.

Second, we act as a caretaker. As a fully licensed and insured company, your car is safe and covered with a one million dollar policy. A CFC representative will attend every shoot to guarantee that everything goes smoothly. At the shoot, you are welcome to stay with your vehicle to ensure that it is treated in the manner, and with the respect it deserves. Location, length of shoot, and use of vehicle are among the factors that determine payment. The moment the shoot is completed you get a check in your hand. Now wasn't that easy?

Additional benefits are increasing the vehicles provenance, value, possible tax write-offs, and seeing your vehicles in print or on film.

Go to http://www.creativefilmcars.com/submit.htm and submit your vehicle. It's really pretty simple. It costs nothing to be listed with our company and your information is protected and will never be shared with anyone. Ever.

For more info give us a call at 212-864-4060 and we will take the time to answer any of your questions, or go to http://www.creativefilmcars.com/  .

Thank you,
Donald and John

my perspective is that this is a quality organization that will do things right.  They have used my car on two occassions, once for a photoshoot by the brooklyn bridge for a fashion catalog another as a prop for another photosoot also in montauk (likley at the same warhol estate) in which it wasnt used.  In neither case was the car abused and payment was made promptly.  Just my 0.02

I've got the right location (NYC) but the car is Beige and I won't repaint, not even for a shoot.

Great to have your car featured in an ad or a magazine shoot but some caution is needed.

Make sure you (the owner) have an absolute veto on how the car is "posed" and how the "talent" and props are positioned on the car. Should be part of the written contract.

Take a look why caution is needed. I edited the photo to remove the advertiser's name...the shot is half of a recent two full page ad appearing in several national US magazines.

Notice that the model is fully on the hood (ouch, especially with an aluminum hood), the stilleto heel is "polishing" the hood, and the rest of the shoe is taking care of the fender. The other shoe is busy with the cowl area.

Imagine how many 'takes' this ad involved with repositioning, etc. Not good.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for all of your responses.

As Richard rightly pointed out, you should of course be concerned with the way your vehicle will be used in a shoot.  With any shoot, we will go over the details of how the vehicles are to be used with the owner before the shoot, and we contract this usage with our clients.

We attend to every vehicle on every shoot and will not allow a client to put a vehicle in a potentially risky situation without an owners approval and consent ahead of time.  The vehicle owners are always welcome to attend a shoot to ensure their car is given the great care it deserves in the manner discussed beforehand.

If a client has a request that would put a vehicle at a clear risk, as in the case of a shoot like the attached image, we would use one of our own vehicles or purchase one for the shoot and assume the risk ourselves.

We are all very passionate about cars and we do everything we can to ensure the safety of every vehicle we use on a shoot.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 212-864-4060 and we will be happy to go over any part of the process with you.

Thanks again,
Donald

My car was used in a shoot two years ago. The production company and folks there treated it with great respect, asking me to move it myself for each shot. They made me totally comfortable plus the car ended up on the cover of a Polo Ralph Lauren brochure. I would do it again.
