Jump Seat & Parcel Shelf

Dear Group,
I have a 1964 230SL with a rear jump seat (code 565). Next to the seat is a carpeted footwell with an exposed small metal bar. (Under the bottom of the jump seat cushion is another small metal bar which the jump seat bottom cushion locks onto.) I thought this was how the area should look. If you take a look on German e-bay (
www.ebay.de
) item number 2405620099 - is a 1969 280SL with a jump seat but no footwell. It looks as if a parcel shelf is next to the seat. Was this factory original on the 280SL? How about the 230 and 250SL's?

richard,
would you mind cutting & pasting a link to the auction? i get a little lost on german ebay & one of the advantages of this site is it lets you post ebay links as hot links.
thanks.
best,

Douglas and Group,
Try this link -
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2405620099&category=18303
- Take a look at this car. Is the jump seat parcel shelf area factory original - or over restored by someone ?

Richard:
My 280 SL 1971 has an original Jump Seat option...it has a carpeted foot well in front of the jump seat. The Ebay photo looks like someone added a jump seat to a rear parcel shelf...my guess is that it was a later addition to that car. I believe this option was available from the beginning of 113 production.

My 230SL built in July 64 has the original Jump Seat option per the data card, and it has the wood parcel shelf type piece behind the driver seat that latches into that little metal bar. The carpeting on it matches the rest of the carpet set in wear and age.
