Does Ivory Steering Wheel Mean Ivory Column?
« on: September 17, 2008, 15:54:10 »
I'm going to an ivory wheel and hub, and was wondering whether any other part of the steering column should also get painted? Or, does all that stay black? The last section of the column (the one the wheel actually bolts to) would come out fairly easily if I needed to paint that. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks,
Bill

You don't get an ivory column.  You probably get an ivory shift knob.  If you want, you can get ivory seat release knobs but I don't think that those are original.

I'm pretty sure that on my project car the "last section of the column" you refer to is ivory. The car has an ivory wheel. The shift knob and seat release knobs are broken off and/or missing, but I think they would have been ivory too ('65 US version 230sl, all looks very original).

Thanks Abe and Dave. Sounds like I have a decision to make.
