Any German speakers
« on: November 13, 2003, 08:29:31 »
as in people who speak German (not of the Becker variety).

Just got an email back from the Classic Center in response to my request for my data-card

This is it. My guess is that they're trying to sell me the certificate thing and charge me a small fortune for the honour. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks

Aha

that'll teach me to remember the joys of the interweb-thingy! :D

Babelfish translation.

They had inquired around a data card to your historical Mercedes Benz. In this connection we would like to present a special service of the DaimlerChrysler of company archives to you. Owners of classical Mercedes Benz passenger vehicles we issue when desired a personal, attractive decoration certificate, which proves all documented equipment and distribution data of the vehicle. A folding sheet and a purchase order form inform you about this exclusive service. The price of the certificate, which is dispatched in a representative briefcase, amounts to? 100,00 zzgl. Postage and packing. Forwarding charges amount to at present? 6,14 zzgl.? 3.00 packing costs. The payment takes place by attached calculation. Since each certificate with large care is made individually for the orderer and the searches as well as the production is connected with a not insignificant expenditure of time, we ask you already now for understanding that the distribution takes some time up. If you wish a copy of the data card in place of our certificate only, we ask ourselves you, in this connection at its Mercedes Benz partner in your proximity or to the Mercedes Benz Classic Centre, HPC 096/R 051 to turn D-70546 Stuttgart. We look forward to your order and wish you all time good travel with your classical Mercedes Benz. Yours sincerely DaimlerChrysler AG till more dillenburger

From which i do take it they're trying to flog me a posh certificate - anyone got one? is it worth it? - OR to contact someone else in Stuttgart, namely:

Tosh,

You are right. DaimlerChrysler Classic tries to sell you a nice-looking framed certificate with basically all the same info that the original data card carries.

My two cents:
It's not worth it. If you already have everything about the SL you can imagine - then it might be a nice present ...

But the original one (i.e. it's a copy, of course) is only the data card.
Go and inquire for the copy of the data card, say your local Mercedes dealer needs it for ordering parts.
You will get it - for free as it should!

Good luck!

You may want to request an explanation of the option codes along with the card.  This helps ensure our database of option codes is correct.
