license plate frame?

Is there a special license plate frame for the rear plate on the 230SL? My plate is just screwed to the body via the two holes in the top of the plate; no frame. There are small holes in the body just outside of the plate, and discolored paint indicates the plate should be in a frame and higher on the car than it is. Perhaps someone with the correct configuration could post a picture?

That is the way they came. You can reto fit a plate holder from a newer mercedes Saloon or use the plastic spacers from the W116 sedan to separate the plate from the paint.
