injection pump crossreferences and rebuilding info

I would like to guther info and data mainly on two things,
one being the models and the cross references, ie interchangeability of the fuel injection pumps of the pagodas and the SEs.
and second, guther up info and details on disassembling, rebuilding and putting togather those pumps.

Why do you want to do this?
There are no parts available to anyone unless you are a Bosch dealer. Even if you are a dealer, then you have to obtain the correct test equipment and after that you need all the test or build sheets to get all the calibration specs.

It's basically a '' forget about it '' proposition.

Basically I am stuck with an R20Y off a W108, there is evidence that it leaks gazoline into oil, and the rest, anyone can imagine..
so, I was hopping I could "fiddle" with it, if there was some seal, or something easily replaceable..
but the way you guys put it, I will not avoid sending it in and paying a bundle....
can anyoen tell how common this particular problem is?
or, estimating probabilities, should I risk and buy a used one from the bay?

I think a sedan pump will work on an SL since they're the same basic engine.
If you have gas in your oil make sure the cold start valve isn't leaking. The seals inside of the pump can be replaced but it's not a job that you or I can do. The main thing is getting the pump calibrated. If you continue to run the engine with an over rich mixture it will do a lot of damage depending on how bad the problem is.

I had a pump let go one and it filled the oil pan with gas in less than 25 KM. Oil leaked out every crack and it was smoking heavily by the time I got home. And it had fresh oil it it too. The level was at least 50 mm higher than the full mark. This one espisode ruined the engine and it failed a few months later.

I think it easier to pull large peices of furnature out your ears than to think about rebuilding and or sorting out your injection pump yourself. Your be playing with a potential disaster.

Just pay the money and send what you got to Fairchield Indsutries or another known specialist and have them set it up for your car.
